State of Missouri Considering Decriminalizing ‘Magic Mushrooms’ For Certain Uses in Specific Healthcare Settings

(MISSOURINET) – Missouri might decriminalize the use of a psychedelic to treat patients with certain health problems. A state House committee is expected to vote Tuesday on a bill that would allow the use of psilocybin (pronounced like sill-lo-sigh-bin), often referred to as magic mushrooms, in a healthcare setting. State Representative Tony Lovasco (lo-VAW-sko), a Republican from St. Charles County, says his bill would cover patients with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, terminal illnesses, and other health conditions.

During a Missouri House committee hearing, no one spoke in opposition to the bill.
