Stewartsville Woman Injured After Reportidly Falling Asleep at the Wheel

Troopers report a Stewartsville woman suffered injuries in a Buchanan County crash this morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred on Highway 6, five miles east of Saint Joseph, as a 2008 Jeep Renegade driven by 41-year-old Amy E. Wion headed westbound around 6:57 this morning.
Authorities say Wion fell asleep, crossed the center-line of the road, traveled off the south side of Highway 6, and struck a highway traffic sign and multiple trees.
Wion suffered serious injuries and sought treatment at Mosaic Lifecare in Saint Joseph.
Troopers say Wion was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
