Strong Spring Turkey Harvest Statewide, Harrison County Sets Harvest Record

Missouri turkey hunters checked in a harvest of over 43 thousand birds for the regular spring turkey season which ended Monday.

The preliminary total released by the Missouri Department of Conservation for the season was 43,380 birds. When combined with the youth weekend on April 6th and 7th, the spring turkey harvest was 47,119. That was 6 percent higher than last year and 20 percent higher than the previous five-year average.

Harrison County reported a record turkey harvest for the youth and spring season totals combined. Josh Roller is with the Missouri Department of Conservation.

 

The Harrison County number was the 7th highest of the counties in the state. Harrison County also continued to pull turkey hunters into the region.

 

Young turkey hunters also harvested 3,739 turkeys over the youth weekend, bringing the overall 2024 spring turkey harvest to 47,119.

Last year, young turkey hunters across the state harvested 2,566 turkeys over the spring youth season and hunters harvested 41,977 during the regular spring season for a 2023 spring season total harvest of 44,543.
