Survey Finds Most Missouri Businesses Have a Problem With Workplace Substance Abuse

(Missourinet) Drugs and alcohol are having a sizable effect on Missouri business.  Joey Parker tells us about the problem and what’s being done about it.

“Not only is substance abuse a problem in Missouri workplaces, it’s getting worse.  Out of more than 600 Missouri businesses 70-percent reported problems according to a survey by the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry – and its partners.

Seven out of ten business owners and HR professionals say they’re dealing with absenteeism, decreased productivity and accidents.

Missouri’s Chamber says it is teaming with other groups to form the Recovery Friendly Workplaces (or RFW) initiative.

The goal behind the RFW is to encourage a workplace culture that promotes employee safety, health and well-being.

It will also provide support for employees and managers by reducing stigma and offering recovery resources.”
