There was a suspicious fire in Trenton on Monday morning.

The Trenton Fire Department was called to a fire at a house on 1437 Main Street on Monday. They arrived at 4 a.m. to heavy smoke and flames rising from the house. Firefighters quickly battled the fire back with a hose before making entry into the structure to put the fire out and extinguish any hot spots.

The owners of the home, Jeannie Buzzard and Carman Morin were not occupying the house and no injuries were reported. Extensive damage was done to the building.

Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District, Grundy County Ambulance, and the Trenton Police Department assisted at the scene, and the State Fire Marshall has been called to investigate.
