Tarkio Woman Injured & Charged in Thursday Crash in Atchison County

A Tarkio woman was injured and charged in an Atchison County accident Thursday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on U.S. 59, three miles north of Tarkio, when a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Lisa A. Peterson was heading northbound.
Troopers say Peterson went off the east side of the road, struck a ditch and a fence, and overturned.
Peterson and a passenger, 61-year-old Tarkio resident Clifford B. Smith, suffered serious and moderate injuries, respectively.
Troopers say neither were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Following the crash, troopers arrested Peterson on a preliminary charge of driving while intoxicated.
She was released for medical treatment.
