The Missouri Senate Kills Time on Redistricting Plan by Talking About Gigging Season, Valentine’s Day, and Jim the Wonder Dog

(Missourinet) The Missouri Senate is expected to get back to work today on a Congressional redistricting plan. Alisa Nelson reports.

Senators have been working on the bill since about 5 p.m. Monday. The holdup is about how many of Missouri’s eight Congressional seats should be Republican strongholds. To eat up the clock while lawmakers negotiate, the discussions get off the beaten path sometimes, including this one between Senate President Dave Schatz of Sullivan and Jefferson City Senator Mike Bernskotter.

Then there is Warrensburg State Senator Denny Hoskins reading about Jim the Wonder Dog.

The redistricting bill is the only one that has been on the Senate floor since the legislative session began in early January.
