Trimble Man Killed In Two Vehicle Accident

A two-vehicle accident Monday morning near Easton resulted in the death of Trimble man.

Troop H of the Highway Patrol says at 7:33 A.M. Monday 21-year-old Easton resident Caitlin M. McComas was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion southbound on Missouri Route 33 when she pulled into the path of a 2009 Ford F-150 that was northbound on U.S. Highway 169, striking that truck in the passenger side.

The truck then began to skid before overturning and coming to rest on its drivers side. The driver, Mark E. Smith, who was reportedly not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.

Smith was pronounced dead on the scene at 8:01 A.M. by Buchanan County Medical Examiner Tom Cates.

McComas was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. She was treated at the scene.
