Troop H to Participate in Seatbelt Enforcement Operation
ST. JOSEPH, MO – Troop H of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will conduct a troop-wide Occupant Protection Enforcement Operation on Friday. The goal of the operation is to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries through aggressive seat belt and child restraint enforcement.
In Missouri, children less than 4 years old or less than 40 pounds must be in a an appropriate child safety seat. Children ages 4 through 7 who weigh at least 40 pounds must be in an appropriate child safety seat or booster seat unless they are 80 pounds or 4 foot 9 inches tall.
Drivers and passengers are required by law to wear a seatbelt at all times while a vehicle is being operated. Persons less than 18 years old operating or riding in trucks must also wear a seat belt.
