Truck Driver Killed in Late Friday Evening Accident

An Illinois truck driver died following an accident on US 36 highway just south of Meadville late Friday evening. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 61-year-old William Simmons of Avon, Illinois was driving eastbound on 36 Highway just south of Meadville and went off the side of the roadway. The Mac truck struck a ditch and overturned. The driver died about an hour after the accident. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office, the Meadville Fire Department, Meadville First Responders, and the Brookfield Fire Department assisted the Highway Patrol. The accident took place around 11:15 on Friday evening.
