Two Nodaway County residents were injured in an accident on Sunday afternoon.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a UTV operated by 76-year old William Stiens of Skidmore was northbound on Orion Road, 1 mile west of Parnell when he failed to yield to a pickup that was eastbound on 200th Street. The pickup was being driven by 19-year old Parnell resident Krista Staples.
The pickup struck Steins’ UTV at an angle, with both vehicles coming to rest on their wheels in the roadway.
Stiens was transported by Life Net to Mosaic in St. Joseph with serious injuries. A passenger in the UTV, 62-year old Maryville resident Harold Spire, was transported by Nodaway County EMS to Mosaic in Maryville with moderate injuries.
The accident took place around 5:15 pm.
