Two Injured in Clay County Crash Monday Afternoon

An Excelsior Springs woman and an Independence man suffered injuries in a Clay County crash Monday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 12:29 Monday afternoon on U.S. 69, south of Rhodus Road, as 61-year-old Independence resident Eddie R. Williams drove northbound.

Troopers say Williams turned into the path of another northbound vehicle driven by 44-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Robert L. Benson.

Williams suffered minor injuries and sought treatment at Liberty Hospital.

A passenger in Benson’s vehicle, 44-year-old Nicole M. Benson, suffered minor injuries and also sought treatment at Liberty Hospital.

Authorities say everyone involved wore seat belts at the time of the crash.
