Two Injured, One Seriously, In I-35 Accident While Attempting To Flee

Two Kansas City residents were injured, one seriously, in an accident while fleeing from emergency vehicles and moving in the opposite driving lane with a vehicle on Interstate 35.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports 46 year old Jason Pressley of Kansas City was the driver of the vehicle attempting to flee the emergency vehicles by heading southbound on I-35 in the northbound lanes at the Holt Rest Area on I-35. He exited I-35 into the northbound rest area and hit a towed unit of a Peterbilt Tractor Trailer operated by 55 year old Toby Polley of Ridgeway. Pressley’s vehicle continued southbound in the rest area, went down an embankment, and struck several trees. The vehicle did land on its on its wheels. The driver was seriously injured in the accident. 24 year old Kerstyn Rust of Kansas City was a passenger in the vehicle and received moderate injuries. Both were taken to a North Kansas City hospital.

Polley was not listed as injured.

The accident took place just before 4pm Friday. The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Highway Patrol.
