Two Kansas City Police Officers Taken to Hospital Following Arrest Tuesday

(KANSAS CITY, MO) – Two police officers in Kansas City were taken to the hospital Tuesday due to possible exposure to the lethal drug fentanyl during an arrest.

The Kansas City Police Department says their Drug Enforcement Unit found a brick of fentanyl, that they believe was headed for Alabama from markings indicating the destination.

Pills laced with fentanyl are intercepted weekly, according to KCPD.

They say this is an escalating problem and that fentanyl brick could have been broken up into roughly 10,000 fake oxycodone pills.

The Police said the suspects who were arrested are facing charges, and the officers who were taken into the hospital are expected to be fine.
