Two Killed In South St. Joe Accident Thursday

A multi-vehicle chain reaction crash in St. Joseph turned deadly Thursday morning.

St. Joseph Police say a four-vehicle chain reaction crash happened just after 9 A.M. Thursday on the northbound off ramp of Interstate 229 to U.S. Highway 36 that left two people dead and one other with serious injuries.

Police say a fully loaded semi tractor trailer hit the rear end of a pickup truck on the off ramp pushing that truck into a dump truck. The force of the crash pushed the dump truck into a commercial boom truck.

Two passengers in the pickup truck, identified as Diana Ptomey and Joyce Ptomey, were killed in the accident. The driver of the truck, who has not been publicly identified, was taken to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of serious injuries.
