U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Missouri Tim Garrison says law enforcement partners will take all necessary measures to protect public safety and uphold the rule of law regarding potential demonstrations leading up to Inauguration Day on Wednesday.

In a released statement, Garrison says violence will not be tolerated and criminal behavior will not be overlooked. He says those who cross the line in exercising their rights to violating the law will be held accountable for their actions and prosecuted accordingly, adding that political disagreement is not a license to engage in domestic terrorism, to commit acts of violence, to harm or threaten others, to illegally trespass, or to break the law in any way.

He also urged the public’s help and asked citizens to report suspicious activity to local authorities.
