Underage Driver Serious Injured and Arrested for DWI in Nodaway County

An underage driver was arrested for a DWI after suffering a serious injury in Nodaway County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 19-year-old Quincy L. Nichols of St. Joseph suffered the injury at 4:20 am Sunday.

He had been westbound on Route M and failed to stop at a stop sign at 4th and McKenzie street in Barnard. His vehicle crossed the center of the roadway, struck an embankment and retaining wall, then went airborne, struck a second embankment, and overturned coming to rest on wheels facing south.

He was placed under arrest at 6:38 am for DWI with alcohol, failing to drive on the right half of the roadway, operated a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident, and not wearing a seat belt.

He was released to the care of Nodaway County EMS who transported him to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
