United States Environmental Protection Agency Presents Six-Figure Check to Maryville

The United States Environmental Protection Agency presented Maryville with a six-figure check Monday for a cleanup grant.

EPA Region Seven presented the ceremonial 211 thousand dollar check at the Maryville Public Safety Building.

EPA selected Maryville for a Brownfields Cleanup Grant funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

Grant funds will clean up Aunt B’s North Property at 602 South Main Street.

The cleanup site operated as a gas station from 1951 until it closed in 2005.

The site is currently vacant and contaminated with petroleum.

In addition, two underground storage tanks are still on the property.

Grant funds will also go towards two public meetings and other community outreach activities.
