US 36 & Ensign Trace Crossover In Cameron Closed Permanently

An intersection on U.S. 36 Highway in Cameron that has become well known for the number of crashes that take place has been closed permanently.

The Missouri Department of Transition last week closed the crossover intersection on U.S. 36 Highway in Cameron at Ensign Trace and MacElwain Drive. The intersection has long been considered dangerous by locals, but a series of crashes in the past month prompted MO-Dot to close the intersection.

At this week’s Cameron City Council Meeting Mo-Dot officials gave an update on that intersection. Cameron City Manager Steve Rasmussen says during that update the City learned the intersection will be closed permanently.

Rasmussen added the long range plan for the area will include an overpass at Reservoir Road that will allow traffic to go across the highway to both the reservoirs on the north side and the Cameron Airport to the south. However that plan is millions of dollars and years into the future.
