Washington University Scientist Part of Team to Create Image of Black Hole at the Center of the Galaxy

(MISSOURINET)  –  For the first time in history- we are able to see what the black hole at the center of our galaxy looks like. Washington University research professor Micheal Nowak (pronounced NOH-vak with a “V”) is part of a team of scientists around the world that were able to capture its size and reconstruct an image…

The Black Hole is now called Sagittarius-A.

It took five years, he says, just to interpret the data in order to model the Black Hole

The project involved about 400 scientists around the world capturing images and data from the center of the Milky Way, Nowak explains:

The Black Hole is 24-thousand light years away– so the data and images are that old as well. Nowak says this is another way to learn about how galaxies are formed.
