Wathena, Kansas Man Injured In Near Drowning At Lake Of The Ozarks

A Wathena, Kansas man was left with serious injuries in what the Highway Patrol describes as a near drowning event at the Lake of the Ozarks Friday evening.

According to the incident report, 31-year-old Wathena resident Jared L. Hawkins entered shallow water, head first, to retrieve an item from the water at the 21 mile marker in Miller Hollow Cove at 6:10 P.M. Friday.

The report says Hawkins was retrieved from the water by bystanders and transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
