We Could Have a Calmer COVID Winter, if No New Strains Develop

(MISSOURINET) –  We could have a manageable COVID winter this year – If we are dealing with the same group of variants we have now. State epidemiologist Nathan Koffarnus (kuh-farnus) says we are coming off of a summer surge of the milder Omicron strain – and possibly a quieter fall.

Koffarnus says cases have been on the way down, with a back-to-school bump as expected.
He says the newest booster is designed for the current COVID strains.

The state epidemiologist with the State Department of Health and Senior Services says the advantage is that the virus is not new—and more people have immunity.
