Wednesday Night Crash Kills Two In Kansas

Law Enforcement say they are investigating a Wednesday night head on crash in Atchison County, Kansas that left two people dead and a pair of juveniles with injuries.

According to information from the Kansas State Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 9:20 P.M. Wednesday night on southbound U.S. Highway 73 when a vehicle driven by 37-year-old Toganoxie resident Derek Wohletz crossed the center line and struck a northbound vehicle being driven by 26-year-old Atchison resident Felieca Paxton.

Paxton and her passenger 33-year-old Atchison resident Jovonnie Franklin were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Two juvenile passengers in that vehicle were also injured with a 7-year-old suffering minor injuries and a 6-year-old suffering serious injuries.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says none of the adults were wearing seat belts at the time. They add it is unclear if the children were properly restrained.
