Where Should High School Seniors Be in the Financial Aid Process?

TRENTON, MO – With almost half of the school year complete many high school seniors are thinking about their next step. Financial aid plays a big role in the college-decision making process. Kimberly Meeker is the Financial Aid Director at North Central Missouri College in Trenton. She explains where students should be in the financial aid process.

The 2022-23 FAFSA is for students starting school in the fall of 2023. FAFSA will determine the amount of state and federal financial aid which a student will qualify for postsecondary education. Meeker recommends everyone complete the FAFSA application. Students will need to make sure they have a FAFSA ID and tax information from the prior year.

Meeker says scholarships are also available for students to take advantage of.

Many resources on scholarships are available from colleges, high school counselors and state education departments. Meeker has several recommendations for students when applying for financial aid:

The full interview with Kimberly Meeker from North Central Missouri College Financial Aid Office can be heard on the NorthwestMO Info Show on KAAN 95.5 FM on Saturday morning at 8:30 am.
