2023 Summer School

Winston R-IV School District will offer a 2023 Summer School for students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade. Please click on the Registration Link to register for Winston Summer School 2023 so staffing and planning can be completed. “Registration Link

 

Parents must complete a separate registration for each student before they can attend summer school.

Bus transportation will be available for out of town students the first week if student is registered by May 16, 2023. Bus transportation for students registering after May 16 will not start until the second week of summer school.

Week 1 – Monday June 5 to Thursday June 8
Week 2 – Monday June 12 to Thursday June 15
Week 3 – Monday June 19 to Thursday June 22
Week 4 – Monday June 26 to Thursday June 29

Time: 7:30am to 3:20 pm; Buildings will be open at 7:20 am.

  • Kindergarten – 6th grade will focus on education through enrichment activities.
    •           7th – 12th grade will offer both enrichment activities and remediation depending on the needs of the student.

Meals: Breakfast (grab and go in the classroom) and Lunch will be available. At this time, we are hoping to provide free meals if approved by the state.  This will not be known until May.

Field trips will be planned depending upon what is available in June.

Students that have 100% perfect attendance for the entire summer school will be rewarded a $50 gift card. Students that miss two days or less will be rewarded a $25 gift card. Note: Summer school attendance is counted by the minute, so students that are tardy will not receive perfect attendance. Every minute counts.

Any student can attend the 2023 Winston School summer school, even if they did not attend the Winston school during the regular school year.

Winston R-VI School District has one of top scores on the State’s Annual Performance Report (APR)

  • Winston R-VI School District has the 4th highest score of all K-12 schools in Northwest Missouri.
  • Compared to all of 473 of Missouri’s K-12 school districts, Winston R-VI School District has the 47th highest score.  This puts Winston R-VI School District in the Top 10% of all K-12 school district in Missouri

APR Scores measure a school district’s performance on State Standardized Tests, College and Career Readiness Standards, Graduation Rate, Post-Graduation Follow Up, Students Attendance, and Continuous Improvement Measures. We are extremely proud of this accomplishment that has been earned by our students, staff, parents and community.  Way To Go Redbirds!!!!

JH Scholar Bowl ended their season in 3rd place in the conference.  Vanessa Weigand was the high point total person in the conference and Nash Nelson finished in the top10.

Prom is April 1st in Lawson this year

The MSHSAA summer-time All Activity Dead Period has been set for July 1st-9th.  The Fall sports season Dead Period starts on July 29th and goes through August 6th.   Fall varsity sports practice begins on August 7.  Hopefully these dates will help with you summer vacation plans

Congratulations to Vanessa Weigand for placing 2nd in the Daviess County Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Zoe Taylor for getting 3rd place in Business Law and CJ Mullikin for getting 5th place in Economics at the District FBLA contest on Wednesday.  They will compete at State FBLA on April 16th-18th.

Congratulations to Vanessa Weigand for winning the Winston Spelling Bee and to Nadalie Hiley for placing 2nd.  Good Luck to all the students competing in the County Spelling Bee on February 2nd at 2pm in Gallatin.

Thank you to the KAW fire Department for participating in Fire Safety Day at the Winston School.  Multiple volunteers brought emergency vehicles and equipment to educate students about Fire Safety.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Softball on a great season.  The Lady Redbirds finished the season 20-7.  Winning the regular season HDC Conference Co-championship, Winning the East Harrison Tournament, placing 3rd in the HDC Tournament and consolation in the Princeton tournaments this season.

Sports Physicals must be updated yearly.  You must have a current physical on file to start sports practice

Lunch and Breakfast prices for the 2022-2023 school year.

***We would also like to make you aware that effective for the 22-23 school year the Federal Government has discontinued the program for all students to automatically receive free breakfasts and lunches.  To receive free or reduced breakfast or lunch, families must qualify by completing the application for Free or Reduced meals.

Doors are open every school day at 7:30am for students.  Dismissal is at 3:35pm.  Car riders can be picked up in the car line at the front door.  Please wait in line in your car until students are released to you.  Please do not walk to the front door to get your student.  Walkers are released after all cars have vacated the car line.

School hours for students: 7:50am – 3:35pm.  Students should be in their rooms ready to work prior to the tardy bell.  Detentions will be given for repeatedly late students.

Several Improvements have been taking place at the school this summer.  Below is a partial listing.

  • Trailer and accumulated junk from behind the school has been removed
  • Ag, Flex and Health room renovations have been completed
  • Old gym windows opening (behind record boards) have been removed and made weather tight.
