A woman was arrested on the Fourth of July after firing a weapon in Putnam County.

A press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says:

On 07-04-2021, at about 2052 hours, the Putnam County E-911 Joint Telecommunication Center dispatched out the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office regarding a call they received about a lady (later identified as Malinda Kae Orwig Lattin) who was arguing with neighborhood children because the children were shooting off fireworks. The caller alleges that Malinda Kae Orwig Lattin then discharged a weapon in an angry manner.

Putnam County Sheriff’s Office along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the location of the incident. After several attempts, contact was made with Malinda Kae Orwig Lattin. She was subsequently taken into custody by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

A search warrant for the residence was issued by the Putnam County Third Judicial Circuit Court and was executed by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Malinda Kae Orwig Lattin is being held at the Daviess and DeKalb County Regional Jail on the Charge of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Class E Felony, and her bond has been set at $10,000 Cash or Surety. Additional charges may be pending.

No one was injured in this incident.
