Woman Thought To Be A Witness In Haslett Case Found Dead

A woman that was thought to be a potential witness in a rape and kidnapping case in Excelsior Springs has been found dead.

Monday, Clay County Prosecuting Attorney Zachary Thomas released information stating law enforcement had made initial identification of a deceased body in Saline County, Missouri as that of Jaymie M. Crosdale.

Law enforcement had been looking for Crosdale as a potential witness against 40-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Timothy Haslett, Jr., who is facing nine charges stemming from the alleged kidnapping, raping and beating of a women last fall at his residence in the 300 block of Old Orchard Street in Excelsior Springs.

Haslett faces one count of 1st-degree rape, four counts of 1st-degree sodomy, one count of 1st-degree kidnapping, two counts of 2nd-degree assault, and one count of 1st-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

Haslett has been in custody since October 2022 and is being held on $3-million bond. Monday the Clay County Prosecutor filed a motion to increase that bond and requested the filing receiving a hearing at the earliest possible time.
