Worth County Board Approves Lighting Bid

Worth County School Board members approved the bid for new lighting and metal poles at the football and track stadium. The action came at a meeting held Wednesday.

The board approved a bid from Techline Lighting for the installation of LED lighting and new metal poles at the football/track stadium. The lights had been damaged during an April storm. Insurance is covering the cost for the lights. The new lights should be installed this summer.

The budget approved for the 2023-24 school year will include a 3.1 percent increase in personnel costs. The budget will include the district’s participation in Missouri’s Teacher Baseline Salary program which raises the minimum teacher salary to $38,000. Administration and non-certified staff will receive a 3.1 percent raise. The district will contribute $500 per month toward the employee’s district health insurance plan. The district will add an additional first grade classroom teacher. The year’s food service will be contracted this year. The district projects to have a balanced budget.

Worth County’s board set their meal prices for the upcoming year. Lunch prices will increase by 35 cents. Breakfast prices will be increased by a quarter.

Bids were opened for surplus property. An update of summer projects was also provided. Those projects include window removal of the agriculture building, asphalt construction and maintenance, door security upgrades, and elementary metal exterior painting.
