Worth County Planning May 9th Outdoor Commencement

Worth County School Board held their reorganizational meeting on Thursday night. Patricia Warner will continue as the Worth County School Board President. Amber Monticue will be Vice President. Amanda Gilliand will be Treasurer. Kandi Hughes will serve as Board Secretary.

High School Principal Jon Adwell reported that graduation will be held on Sunday, May 9th at 2pm in the football field with weather permitting. There will be a backup plan to use the high school gymnasium if there is inclement weather.

The board also approved a change in the date for credit recovery summer school to May 19th through June 2nd with Worth County undertaking a flooring project. The board also approved an application for a Career Technical Education Enhancement Grant Application for Ag and Business.

Board members discussed differences between using an Energy Savings Company and an architect for construction projects. The school does anticipate receiving federal money through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.

Worth County’s board rescinded the resolution authorizing school employees as essential workers. The board approved issuing at-will letter for returning support staff members. Cree Beverlin was approved for a high school social studies position, assistant high school football coach, and head boys track coach, Katelyn Halsey as Ag Teacher and FFA sponsor. The board accepted the resignations of FACS teacher Alison Brandt and bus driver Andy Welch.
