Boerighter, Schmitz Honored At MIAA Awards Night

Former Northwest Missouri State University Athletics Director Dr. Bob Boerigter and longtime official Roger Schmitz were two  of the honorees at the 2023 MIAA Awards Celebration held at the Kansas City Music Hall Tuesday evening.

Roger Schmitz received the 2022-23 Officiating Award of Excellence for his service to the league, including this year which battling Stage 4 cancer.

 

Dr. Bob Boerigter is one of the new members to the MIAA Hall of Fame. He talked about his time at both Northwest and as league commissioner.

 

He also talked about the rewarding experiences.

 

This year’s MIAA Ken B. Jones winners included Auna Childress of Pittsburg State as Female Student Athlete of the Year. Ryan Stanley of Fort Hays State was named as the Male Student Athlete of the Year.
