District Track Meet Performances Determine Area Qualifiers For The Iowa State Track Meet

Central Decatur’s boys track team qualified automatically in 8 events from the Class 2 district track meet held Thursday at Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont to the Iowa State Track Meet next week in Des Moines. Central Decatur’s Jack Scrivner won the 110 Hurdles and the Long Jump. Vinny Carcamo placed 2nd in the 800 meters. Tyke Hullinger was 2nd in the 100 meters. Central Decatur also qualified with a 2nd place finish in the 4 x 800 Relay and with wins in the 4 x 200 and Shuttle Hurdle Relay.

Central Decatur’s girls also qualified for the Iowa State Track Meet with a 2nd place finish in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay.

The Wayne girls won the 14-team district that they hosted Thursday. Wayne scored 185 points and automatically qualified individual event winners with Reese Brown in the 100 meters, Morgan Knutson in the 100 and 400 hurdles, Maddy Wood in the Shot Put, and Emily Jones in the Discus. Wayne also won the 4 x 100 Shuttle Hurdle Relay and the 4 x 400 Relay.

Mount Ayr finished 2nd in the team points with 121. Mount Ayr’s event winners included Addie Reynolds in the 200 and 400, the 4 x 200 relay, the Sprint Medley, and placed 2nd in the 4 x 800 relay.

Lamoni’s Taylor Henson also qualified with a PR in the High Jump for an event win.

Lynnville Sully won the boys meet with 117 points. Mount Ayr placed 2nd with 105 points.

Mount Ayr had event wins from Ryce Reynolds in the 400 Hurdles and Adler Shay in the 400 meters. Mount Ayr also won the 4 x 400, the Sprint Medley, and the Distance Medley.

Lamoni finished 3rd with 92 points. Javin Stevenson was 2nd in the 100 and 200 and will have to wait for the performance list to see if he qualifies for the state meet. Tyson McDole placed 1st in the 1600 meters. Brayden Olsen won the Discus to qualify for the Iowa State Track Meet.
