Dominant Start Advances Mound City To MSHAA Class 1 Boys Championship Game

Mound City bolted to a first quarter lead of 23-4 behind a 7-point run from junior Tony Osburn and 3 point field goals from Lane Zembles and Gage Salsbury and went on to dominate St. Elizabeth 59-39 in the Class 1 Boys semi final game at JQH Arena on Friday afternoon. Mound City turned St Elizabeth over 13 times in the first half and built a lead of 36-11 at halftime. St Elizabeth, playing in their 3rd straight Class 1 Show Me Showdown, was in single digit points until late in the 2nd quarter.
Mound City will be on to the Class 1 Boys Championship game on Saturday at 2pm at JQH Arena. South Iron defeated Higbee 75-50 in the other Class 1 Boys semi final.
Mound City Head Coach Ryan Osburn talked about the win following the game.
