On opening day in major league baseball, there was some sad news.
Former Cardinals third baseman Ken Reitz died. Reitz played 8 of his 11 big leagues seasons in St. Louis and he earned the nickname Zamboni for his ability to scoop up ground balls. He was involved in the trade with the Cubs after the 1980 season that brought Hall of Fame reliever Bruce Sutter to the Cardinals. Reitz was a Gold Glover in 1975 and an All-Star in 1980 with the Cardinals. He was 69
