Graceland Begins Heart Interdivision Play With 48-7 Victory In Fayette Over CMU

For the first time in 7 years, Graceland’s football team has won back-to-back football games within a season.

Graceland went to 2-0 on the young season with a 48-7 victory over Central Methodist at Davis Field in Fayette Saturday evening. Graceland scored on their first two possessions, taking the opening kickoff and covered 68 yards in seven plays. Quarterback Cade Ross ran in from 11 yards out for the first touchdown. After Graceland kept Central Methodist in their own territory, on their opening possession, Graceland got a short field and completed a seven-play 45-yard drive with a 11-yard touchdown pass from Ross to Gerald Monroe. Graceland scored again late in the second period when Tre Blake caught a 6-yard touchdown pass. Gerald Monroe then ended the first half with a deflected touchdown catch with two seconds remaining in the half to lead 27-0.

Graceland scored again in the third when Reggie Wilson caught a TD pass to complete a 54 yard drive about 5 minutes into the half. Graceland’s Jaden Gilliland and Jamon McGlory both scored rushing touchdowns in the 4th period.

Graceland had 296 yards passing and ran for another 211 yards. Ross went 22-35 for 234 yards with four touchdowns. Gerald Monroe caught two touchdown passes and had eight catches overall for 78 yards Reggie Wilson caught 6 passes for 73 yards. Tre Blake caught 4 for 26 yards. Graceland rushers averaged 7 yards per rush.

Graceland’s defense surrendered 127 yards rushing. Defensive back to Kanoa Johnson nearly ran back a pick 6 the length of the field.

Graceland is 2-0 and will be hosting Benedictine next Saturday at Huntsman Field in Lamoni.
