Graceland Men Continue Late Season Push With 8th Win In 9 Games

The Graceland Men’s Basketball Team rode a hot shooting night to their 8th win in 9 games at the Morden Center Wednesday evening. Graceland defeated Grand View University 76-65 and are now two games clear of Benedictine and sit at 7th place in the Heart of America Conference basketball standings. The top 8 teams in the Heart will qualify for the postseason tournament.

Graceland was playing without senior guard C.J. Wilson but scored the first 11 points in the game to get early separation against the Vikings. Graceland would maintain a double-digit margin through the rest of the first half, and even extended and 11-point lead with just under 4 minutes to go to 16 points at halftime. Grand View shot better in the second half and were never completely put away, but the Yellowjackets did maintain separation through the second half. The 11-point spread at the end of the game was the closest that Grand View was in the second half.

Graceland had 25 points from Seth Compas. He also added 6 rebounds. Sam’i Roe scored 15 points. Graceland shot 58% from the field, and 47% from three-point range. Graceland is now 16-9 overall and 11-8 in the Heart of America Conference.

Graceland will host Baker Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for their Senior Day.

Women-Grandview 100 Graceland 69
The Grand View Women’s Basketball Team shot 56% from the field for the game and 68% in the 2nd Quarter as the Lady Vikings defeated Graceland 100-69 Wednesday evening. Grand View scored 56 points in the 1st half. Ella Larsen of Grand View scored most of her 30 points in the first 22 minutes of the game.

Graceland’s Vegas Camacho scored 18 points. Madi Sager scored 16 points and had 7 rebounds. Graceland’s Women are now 9-15 overall and 4-14 in the Heart of America Conference.

Graceland will host Baker for Senior Day Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
