Graceland Men Lose Heartbreak In Postseason Tourney Semis

The Graceland men’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker in the Heart of America Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament Friday evening at the Collins Center in Baldwin City, Kansas. Baker defeated Graceland in overtime 74-73 in the tournament semi-finals. Graceland fought back from a 9-point deficit with about six and a half minutes to go to tie the game eventually force overtime. Graceland then got a three-point shot down off the glass from Aleksa Markovic with just 5 seconds left in OT. Baker rushed the ball into their front court and called a timeout with one second left and hit a baseline jumper as the clock expired. Graceland has 21 wins and 9 losses and now will need to wait to see if they will earn an at large berth in the NAIA National Tournament. Baker moves on to the championship game and will host that game after Peru State upset top seeded Mid-American Nazarene in Olathe 71-67 Friday night.

The NAIA will release the men’s qualifiers for the NAIA National Tournament on Thursday at 6pm.
