Griffons Comeback Falls Short At UCO
Missouri Western’s second half comeback fell a little short in Edmond, Oklahoma Saturday night as the Broncos defeated Missouri Western 24-20 in Edmond, Oklahoma on the opening night of the MIAA football season.
Central Oklahoma got defensive stops and scored a touchdown and a field goal on their first two drives of the game, but the Griffons’ Brandon Hall countered in the 2nd quarter with a 41-yard run to get Missouri Western on the board. The Bronchos then hit the Griffons with 65 and 80 yard drives in the 2nd quarter to take a 24-7 lead at halftime.
Missouri Western got a touchdown back in the 3rd quarter with a Shen Butler Lawson, Jr. run. Brison Cobbins then scored with 1:34 left in the game to make it 24-20, and the extra point was missed.
Missouri Western had one more chance from their own 20-yard line when UCO missed a field goal. The Broncos intercepted a pass at their own 10-yard line.
