Jordyn Gray’s Big Game Leads NCMC To 7th Place Game At NJCAA Women’s National Tourney

The North Central Missouri College Women’s Basketball team will play for 7th place at the NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament in Port Huron, MI on Saturday.

The NCMC Lady Pirates dominated both the 2nd and 3rd quarters in the consolation game Friday morning and beat Niagara County 67-47. North Central struggled to score in the 1st quarter. The Lady Pirates shot just 33 percent from the field and fell behind by as many as 7 in the period. The quarter ended with Niagara County leading 15-10. North Central turned the shooting around in the 2nd quarter. Jordyn Gray came off the bench to score 11 points as North Central hit 10 of 16 shots as the Lady Pirates went on a 14-0 run in the first 3:30 of the 2nd quarter to take a 24-15 lead. They kept that margin at halftime and led by 10 at the break 36-26.

North Central continues to extend the margin in the 3rd, largely because they held Niagara County to just 7 points and took a 19-point lead going into the 4th quarter. The margin stayed in the upper teens or low 20s for most of the 4th quarter.

Jordyn Gray lead NCMC with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Ianara Morbidoni scored another 16 points. Maci Moore had 9 points and 9 rebounds. Nora Ford scored 9 points and had 7 rebounds.

NCMC will take a 25-7 record into their 7th place games Saturday morning. It will tip at 11am.
