NCMC Falls Short In NJCAA D-II Women’s Opener
NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship
at Port Huron, Michigan
The North Central Missouri College Women fell a little short in their first round of the NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship 1st Round game at Port Huron, Michigan Tuesday. The Pima Aztecs defeated NCMC 69-66 in the 3rd first round game.
NCMC’s Adrienne Ford scored 18 of game-high 26 points in the first half, and the Lady Pirates stretched a 3-point first quarter lead to as many as 13 in the 2nd quarter. Their lead was 41-28 with little less than a minute to play before halftime, but the got a three-point play and a three-point shot down prior to halftime that cut the NCMC lead to 41-34. The Aztecs pulled to within 3 within the first 3 and a half minutes in the 3rd quarter, and the game stayed pretty tight the rest of the way. NCMC took their final lead 64-63 with a little over 3 minutes left. Pima countered with a layup and two free throws. Nora Ford would hit 2 free throws with 44 seconds left. Pima hit a layup with 17 seconds left. NCMC missed a three-point shot with 13 seconds left in the game.
North Central Missouri College will play their first consolation game on Thursday morning at 9am.
