NCMC Women Cap 3-1 National Tournament Week With 7th Place Trophy Win

Following a narrow loss Tuesday in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II Women’s National Tournament, the North Central Missouri College Women’s basketball team still made it a full week of basketball and capped off the week with a third consecutive victory and a 7th Place finish in Port Huron, Michigan.

NCMC defeated Danville Area 75-68 in the 7th place game in a game in which the Lady Pirates had to stay dogged. Danville Area took at 20-15 lead in the first quarter and extended the lead to as many as 9 at one point in the 2nd period. NCMC closed a 27-18 margin to 33-29 at halftime and even caught Danville Area with an Ianara Morbidoni 3-point shot in the first two minutes in the 3rd quarter. Danville Area responded and exchanged baskets for most of the 3rd period, but NCMC led 50-48 going into the 4th quarter.

Maci Moore hit a pair of free throws in a back-and-forth 4th quarter to give NCMC a 70-66 lead with 1:39 left. NCMC hit free throws and successfully defended 5 3-point shots the rest of the way.

NCMC had 4 players score in double figures. Maci Moore scored 17 points and collected 9 rebounds. Kennadie Crowe scored 16 points. Nora Ford added 12. Jordyn Gray scored 11.

NCMC ends their season 26-7 on the season.
