Northwest Balance Tilts Bearcats To Title Game

Northwest Missouri State Men’s Basketball team will play for a 3rd straight national title on Saturday after the Bearcats pulled away in the second half to beat Black Hills State 70-57 in the NCAA Division II Men’s National Semi-Finals in Evansville on Thursday. The game was close through most of the 1st half, but Northwest used a spurt late in the half to take a 10-point halftime lead. The Yellow Jackets closed the margin to 4 with about 12 minutes to go in the game. Northwest pulled away from that point.

 

 

Luke Waters was one of 5 Bearcats to score in double figures.

 

Ben McCollum also talked about the way Northwest defended Black Hills State All-American Joel Scott.

 

Northwest will face 3rd-seeded Augusta in the championship game on Saturday. Augusta defeated Indiana (PA) 76-61 in the other semi-final. The National Championship game tips at 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

Northwest Missouri State has now won 16 straight NCAA Tournament games. They are 4-0 in the semi-finals. Northwest is now 54-1 in neutral site games. The Central Region representative team has now reached the championship game for 6 consecutive games.
