Northwest Becomes Elitist Of The Elite 8 With 3rd National Championship

Northwest Missouri State University’s Men’s Basketball Team completed a dominating Elite 8 run and finished off the national championship run with an 80-54 victory over West Texas A&M University at the Ford Center at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.

This game unfolded much like the previous two games at Evansville for the Bearcats. West Texas A&M stayed within range in first 9 minutes of the game, but the Bearcats took command with a 19-6 run. At that point, the lead was 32-19 Northwest Missouri State, but the Bearcats added to the lead at halftime. It was 48-29 at the half. Northwest Missouri State was led by Most Outstanding Player of the Elite 8 Ryan Hawkins. The Bearcat senior scored 31 points and 18 rebounds. He deferred many of his statistics to his teammates.

Hawkins was joined on the All Tournament Team by Trevor Hudgins. He added 15 in the game. Wes Dreamer scored another 19 for Northwest. Northwest outscored their 3 opponents in the Elite 8 by a collective 78 points. Head Coach Ben McCollum.
