Platte Valley’s girls softball team scored 18 runs in the first 3 innings and dominated their semi final game in the Class 1 MSHSAA Softball Playoff series on Wednesday in LaPlata. Platte Valley defeated LaPlata 18-0 to advance on the title game on Saturday.
Platte Valley scored 4 runs in the first inning that was highlighted by Jackie Pappert’s 2 RBI double. Platte Valley would get another 10 runs in the 2nd inning. Paige West provided the big blow with an inside the park grand slam home run.
Platte Valley would get another 4 in the 3rd, and pitcher Jessi Miller and the Platte Valley defense held LaPlata scoreless in 3 innings.
Platte Valley will face Vienna in Saturday’s championship game. Vienna hit 2 home runs in the 7th and defeated defending champion Salisbury 5-4 in the other semi final.
