Raider Junior Opens Iowa State Track Meet With New State Record

Mount Ayr Junior Ryce Reynolds opened his Iowa State track meet with a new state record Thursday.

Reynolds began the Mount Ayr boys Iowa State Track Meet with a state-record run in the 400 meter dash. Reynolds ran the oval at Drake Stadium in Des Moines in 48.21 to win the title and give Mount Air their first 10 points of the meet. Reynolds will also be competing in the 400M hurdles individually. Mount Ayr also has several relays qualified.

Among other area competitors, Bedford’s Emily Baker placed second in the shot put with a throw of 39’9″. That throw was the fifth row of her sequence.

Diagonal’s Taylor Lombard also placed seventh. Her throw was 36’6″.

Central Decatur was represented in the long jump by Jack Scrivner. He went 20 ft 2 and 1/2 inches.

The Iowa State track meet continues Friday and Saturday in Des Moines.
