Graceland used halftime of their football game on Saturday to present a National Championship Ring to their 165-pound national championship wrestler over the weekend. Mediapolis, Iowa junior Brennan Swafford claimed the individual NAIA National Championship in March when he went 5-0 through the bracket and claimed Graceland second individual national championship wrestling championship ever and their first since wrestling was brought back to Graceland in 2013.

Brennan initially thought about football as his choice of sport for college. He says he eventually chose wrestling and says the wrestling team’s bond is similar to the atmosphere the feeling that extends throughout the campus.

He came from behind to win his semi final match and then overcame a 1-0 deficit to win the title.

Brennan was also an All-American as a freshman when he finished 7th at the championships. Graceland’s 2020 Wrestling Season begins November 4th at Waldorf. Graceland’s first home competition will be November 10th against Central Methodist.
