South Harrison Girls Golf Claims School’s 2nd Ever School Sport Championship

The South Harrison girls golf team improved their first day team score by 15 strokes and won the Class 1 MSHSAA Girls Golf Championship comfortably at the Sedalia Country Club on Tuesday.  South Harrison shot 403 on the second day, took the lead early on the second day and kept plenty of margin between themselves and 2nd place East Atchison (21 strokes) and District 3 Champion Northeast Cairo (37 strokes).

South Harrison Coach Kale Watson says South Harrison’s team seemed very comfortable on the course on the first day following an earlier practice round.

He says he was very encouraged about how his team members felt about performing on the second day.

Abby Owens finished 4th individually with a 174 individual score.  That day included 10 pars and 1 birdie for the championship.  Ashlee Cannon had 5 pars.  Chloe Hodge had 4 pars. Paige Beatty and Tenley Weller also scored a par on par-3 holes.

Jamie Barnett of East Atchison, Abbie Koenen of Putnam County, Sydnee Bruns of East Atchison, and Bridgette Hightshoe of Worth County all medaled at the competition.
