Barbara Sue (nee Ruble) Castor passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Laverna Village, Savannah, Missouri. She was born at Bethany Hospital November 12, 1938, to Ora Lee and Kate (Sweany) Ruble.  Her mother passed away shortly after her birth.  Sue was raised by her Aunt Nettie Sweany (“Grandma”) and her father.  She grew up in the McFall and Pattonsburg areas, surrounded by a host of cousins who were one big family.

Sue graduated from Pattonsburg High School.  She met Galen Castor, and they were married on December 23, 1958, in the living room of their current home in Maysville.  To this union, two children were born:  Gary Wayne (Debbie) Castor, Diana Jean (Richard) Camden.  They were blessed with three grandchildren:  Sarah Elizabeth Castor, Garrison Miles (Alexandria) Castor and Jacob Allen Camden.
Sue worked at the Pattonsburg Factory and in the laundry and kitchen at Sunset Home, but she spent the bulk of her career as a dishwasher and cook at Maysville Schools where she so enjoyed interacting with the children in the lunch lines and her fellow cooks and friends on the serving line.  Sue loved playing cards and looked forward to weekends when she would play pitch with her in-laws, Ivel and Sarah Castor, and husband Galen; later in life, she loved to play 3-13 with anyone she could pull into a game. She looked forward to Spring when she could enjoy her flowers whether it be the lilacs and phlox at their farm outside of Fairport or the flowers surrounding their home in Maysville.  Most of all, she cherished the time she could spend with her family.
Services will be held at Turner Family Funeral Home in Maysville on Saturday, May 21, 2022, with visitation beginning at 9 am and a Celebration of Life at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers/If desired, contributions may be made to organization of giver’s choice.
