Charles Michael “Mike” Heckenbach passed away at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph on August 27, 2023, at the age of 70 years, 11 months, and 2 days after a 2 year battle with cancer.

Mike was born in Kansas City, MO on September 25, 1952, to Lenora Irene (Carver) Barnett and Thomas Louis Heckenbach. He was raised in the city and attended Park Hill School. After his sophomore year he moved to Jameson, MO where he graduated in 1970 at Jameson R-III School. At school, he met his wife, Callie A. Kirkpatrick. They were married on June 6, 1971, and spent 52 years together. They had three children, Craig Alan, Michael Lee, and Cynthia Ann.

Mike was a farmer, a mechanic, and worked at several John Deere Companies. He also worked at Porters in Cameron insulating new homes.

Mike loved the outdoors, and fishing with his friends. He enjoyed time with his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, and his brother, Tom.

Mike is survived by his wife, Callie of the home; his three children, Craig (Nikki) and Michael (Natalie), of Jameson, Cyndi (Kenneth) of Cameron; brother, Steve Heckenbach, Atlantic, IA; sisters, Susie Deering, Arizona and Pam Horner, Taneyville; grandchildren, Haylie, Cody, Ashlyn and Kyleigh Huggins, Mikah and Mason Heckenbach, Caitlin Heckenbach, Hannah and Lainie Huffman, Faith King, Preston Anderson, Jaiden Rainey, and four great grandchildren; several cousins and nieces and nephews.

He will be missed greatly by family and friends.

Mike has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
