Darrin David Benshoof, 57, Princeton, MO (formerly of Des Moines, IA) passed away Sunday, August 9, 2020 at his home in Princeton, MO.

He was born December 14, 1962 in Oshawa Ontario, Canada to Dixon H Benshoff and Betsy A Yttrevold. He came from a large family that included 2 older brothers, Dixon (Julie) Benshoff, Daniel (Tina) Benshoof, an older sister Lea (Tim) Lindemoen, and a younger sister Mellissa (Jeff) Kling. When he was very young he moved from Oshawa to Des Moines, IA. Growing up there were a lot of stories of the mischief he and his siblings, including Mellissa, got in to.

Darrin was a very hard worker, whether it be his education, his job or wood working, he loved to stay busy. Darrin also enjoyed playing pool in his spare time and was an original member of the Bammies 5. When he wasn’t doing these things he was taking time for his family.

Darrin loved his kids; Megan, Amanda, Kelly, Porscha, Sheldon and Joshua, and his grandkids, all 13 of them. He spent a lot of time making rocking horses, chairs, bookshelves, chests and many more items for his children and grandchildren to cherish.

Darrin was also an animal lover. He never met an animal he didn’t love. He always carried treats in his vehicle or pocket for the pets, even for the neighborhood pets. The animals were just as excited to see him as the grandkids were.

He didn’t always know how to express himself or show his love but he was always there when you needed him. He had a huge heart and loved everyone. We will forever be grateful he was a part of our lives.

Darrin was preceded in death by his mother, father, and his ex-wife, Sherrie.

Darrin is survived by his children, siblings, and grandchildren.

Darrin has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Princeton, MO.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15 at Labor Union Park, Des Moines, IA. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com
