Diana Jean Son, daughter of Robert and Mary Lou (Matheny) Walkup, was born January 10, 1949 in Clarinda, Iowa. Diana grew up in the Blockton area and attended school in Blockton and Conway and graduated from Bedford High School.

Diana had such a big heart and left an impression on everyone she met. She was so loved by the many that got to care for her at the nursing home, their hearts forever touched by the amazing person she was. Even when she didn’t have much, she would give what she had. She was very smart and witty and loved to rhyme. Her conversations would flow with rhyme after rhyme, cracking a few jokes in between. Anyone that knows her also knows how contagious her laugh is. Dancing, singing, playing cards, crafts, and watching football and basketball were a few of her favorite activities. She was also a good cook. Despite some of her struggles, she loved her friends and family deeply and only wished for happiness and joy in the lives of others.

Diana was a resident at Westview of Indianola Care Center. She passed away suddenly at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on November 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Alan, and brother-in-law Todd Poppa.
